Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1949 as the country's first professional symphony orchestra and is situated in the historic 18th century's Reduta building. Classical music lovers visiting Bratislava should make their way to the Philharmonic to enjoy various seasonal concerts in a beautiful surrounding, including theme-oriented and vocal and symphonic performances as well as special ones for young listeners. The musicians of the orchestra can also frequently be seen performing at international festivals and have played in nearly all Europeans countries.
The building itself, renovated in neo-Baroque style, is decorated with amazing stuccowork, stained glass and valuable windowpanes. The ornaments are work of many international craftsmen. The Philharmonic has hosted concerts of artists from all over the world.
