Written sources say that in 864, there was a huge and well-fortified Castle on this site. Right on the border with Austria, Devin Castle had been a place where the Iron Curtain was clearly palpable. Before 1989, Morava and Danube rivers divided Europe into two opposing teams. The interesting fact is that, since the 13th century, when stone fortifications began to be built, the castle was never taken by any invaders. Tourists have access to all main attractions of the place. Especially to the Maiden Tower, a very picturesque watchtower with a myriad of legends surrounding it.
