Located at a distance of about 10 km from Slovakia’s capital centre, Devin Castle is a part of the Bratislava City Museum and main tourist attraction in Devin, which nowadays is a district of Bratislava. This medieval castle was built over several centuries and changed its owners many times. In 1809 it was destroyed almost completely by Napoleon’s army, but now - partially reconstructed - is a vital point on a map of everyone, who is interested in national symbols of Slovakia. Situated on a cliff, surrounded by meandering rivers (the confluence of Danube and Morava Rivers), Devin is an unspoiled place to walk around and admire panoramic views of the area. One of the most interesting parts of the castle is an elegant, sleek Maiden Tower, known mainly due to countless legends. Visitors can also see two exhibitions in the basement of the Devin Castle, which consist of ancient objects related to its history. During the tour you will also see Communist Regime Victims Monument near the Castle and picturesque Danube Valley on the way from Bratislava centre.
